One post to fuel them all?

September 22, 2008

Hola, whoever maybe reading this! My name is Josh aka JAKAZiD aka Joshka and I am a DJ, dance music producer and engineer, although to be honest if you stumbled here by mistake you’re either lost, curious or both (certainly if you continue to read this entire post you’ll be both). During an overnight period between the end of September 21st and the beginning of September 22nd, I took it upon myself to give birth to a blog about various goings-on in my own musically dominated life, and other things that are particularly influencing me. Considering men aren’t born with the right anatomical features to give birth, it was surprisingly a fairly uncomplicated procedure.

You may be wondering, “What is the point of this blog?”, and there is a number of reasons I can list. To begin with, a number of friends of mine will know that I’m notoriously bad at sticking to a web design I’m happy with, and when it does eventually happen, I’ve usually taken so long on the design and coding that I’ve lost all willpower for writing the content. To summarize, I suck at making websites, and after seeing a number of friends of mine setting up their own blogs (see the blogroll over there →) I felt inspired and decided I’d have a go myself. The second reason for setting up over here at WordPress is that actually I already have a blog on LiveJournal, but I felt that I probably have 2 different potential audience on the internet. There are my close friends, who aren’t quite as bothered about the latest on what I’m up to as Mr. JAKAZiD but want me to share my account our impromptu social gathering the night before, and then there’s the rest of the world who probably don’t care what I had for dinner last night, but do want to know what is in the musical pipeline for me. For the latter demographic, this blog is for you. :D

So, recent events? Well, last weekend I played an extremely fun yet slightly emotional DJ set at the last ever Goodfellaz party in Toronto, held at – of all places – an indoor go-kart track! It was such great fun playing for everyone there, and it was fantastic to meet a bunch of the people behind the North American hardcore scene too. It was particularly pleasing to hear another set from Luna-C in true Supaset style, since it’s been a while for me.

My own set went reasonably well I think, considering I was still burning CDs of stuff I wanted to play at the venue itself! Sadly, I can’t share a recording of the JAKAZiD set with you since there was a problem with a few of the recordings over the night which was out of anyone’s control, but since a few people asked for track IDs I managed to jot down the setlist for you, with links leading to where you can download or buy the tracks where possible.
